How should you backup your wedding photos? Backing up your wedding photos is essential to ensure that you don’t lose any of your precious memories. While your online gallery may only be available for a year or so, it’s important to backup your photos as soon as your photographer sends you the link. It’s important to follow the “3-2-1 rule” when it comes to online storage. This means having three different copies of your photos on at least two different devices, and one copy stored offsite. This way, you’ll have a copy of your photos on your online gallery, a digital copy on your computer, and a physical copy on a USB drive. Additionally, having a cloud backup will provide an offsite copy of your photos in case of any unexpected events. Cloud Backups

One of the best ways to do this is to download all of your wedding photos and upload them to a cloud storage service such as Google Drive or Amazon Photos. (Pro tip — Amazon photos is free for Prime members, and you get unlimited photos)

3-2-1 Rule

3 Backups

Your three backups should be as follows:

• Your computer’s hard drive
• A USB Drive
• Cloud storage –> Google Drive, Amazon Photos, etc.
• Bonus: Your online gallery

2 Devices

Those two physical devices are your computer’s hard drive, as well as a USB drive with your images on it. Bonus points if you put the USB in a fireproof safe.

1 Offsite

For an offsite backup, I wouldn’t just rely on your online gallery, though that is a good first step. You should also be sure to upload your photos to a service like Amazon Photos (free for Prime Members), Google Drive, or Dropbox.
